OK, FOLKS, WE'VE PLAYED OUT THIS AMERICAN PROCESS AND NOW WE HAVE A STANDARD-BEARER FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION THAT SHOULD RETIRE BRAD MILLER FROM PUBLIC LIFE.  LET'S ALL GET BEHIND BILL RANDALL!!!

DAN HUFFMAN AND I HAVE HELD EXTENSIVE DISCUSSIONS WITH EACH OF THE TWO STRONG CANDIDATES IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY RUNOFF.  OUR DECISION IS TO ENDORSE BERNIE REEVES!  BERNIE "GETS IT" ON THE ISSUE OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! FURTHER, HE HAS THE VIEWPOINT AND THE DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE ON MILITARY MATTERS NEEDED TO ARGUE FOR REMOVING THE RIDICULOUS OBAMA ADMINISTRATION GROUND RULES UNDER WHICH OUR SOLDIERS MUST OPERATE IN AFGHANISTAN, AND FOR ELEVATING THE ARMY RESEARCH OFFICE HERE IN RTP (WITH MANY DISTRICT 13 EMPLOYEES) IN THE ARMY SCHEME OF THINGS.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Since getting my PhD in aerospace engineering at Rice in 1968 I’ve managed industry and government R&D activities totaling nearly half a billion dollars, retiring as Manager of the Army-wide Small Business Technology Transfer Program in 2009.  I received the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service medal two times.  I have over a dozen scientific journal publications including as an invited book reviewer, largely in the field of aerodynamics.  I have been granted one patent and am applying for a second.  During 1983-85 I held a policy appointment with the Reagan Administration, serving as the Deputy Chief Scientist of NASA.  I have been politically active more or less forever and am very familiar with the labors and shenanigans of Capitol Hill, in part because I was selected as the Congressional Fellow of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics during 1976-77, choosing to serve as a staffer for Hon Jack Kemp (R-NY, later HUD Secretary).

PERSONAL PROFILE

I’ve been married to my first wife, Brigitte, since 1976.  We’ve lived in the Durham area since 1985.  Brigitte did substitute teaching for many years.  We have two great daughters, Elisabeth and Rita, who have chemical engineering and health sciences degrees respectively, and both of whom are married.  We’re long-time members of Grace Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod).  I have been an NRA member since 2000.  I’m fortunate in my good health, and have managed to stay in good physical condition.  (As you look at my photo, I hope your reaction will be something like: Oh well, let’s just say he’s not another pretty face.)
